Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By purchasing a Coin device, downloading the Coin app, or using any part of the Coin service (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Coin Technologies, Inc. ("Coin," "we," "us," or "our"). If you are using the Service on behalf of a minor, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of that minor and accept these Terms on their behalf.

2. The Service

Coin provides a hardware device ("Coin device") and companion iOS application ("Coin app") that work together to help users manage app access on their iPhone. The Service uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls framework) to restrict and restore access to selected applications based on the physical attachment of the Coin device.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. Account Registration

Certain features of the Coin app (including Coin Pro and iCloud sync) require you to create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration

  • Keep your account credentials confidential

  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Hardware

5.1 Purchase

Coin devices are sold subject to a separate purchase agreement completed at the time of sale. Title to the hardware passes to you upon delivery.

5.2 Limited use

The Coin device is designed for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reverse engineer, disassemble, or attempt to modify the hardware in ways that could affect its safety or functionality.

5.3 Compatibility

The Coin device is designed for use with MagSafe-compatible iPhone models (iPhone 12 and later). Coin makes no warranty that the device will function with future iPhone models, third-party cases, or accessories that may interfere with NFC or magnetic functionality.

5.4 Damage

Coin is not responsible for any damage to your iPhone or accessories resulting from use of the Coin device.

6. Subscription — Coin Pro

6.1 Free tier

The Coin app is available at no charge with core functionality including one device, one blocking profile, and basic app blocking.

6.2 Coin Pro

Advanced features are available through a paid subscription ("Coin Pro") at the rates displayed in the app at the time of purchase. Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms.

6.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your Coin Pro subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.

6.4 Price changes

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use of Coin Pro after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation

  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service

  • Use the Service in any way that could harm Coin or other users

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure

  • Resell or sublicense the Service without our written permission

  • Use the Service to monitor or restrict another person's device without their knowledge or the knowledge of their parent or legal guardian (where applicable)

8. Apple Screen Time API & Family Controls

The Coin app uses Apple's Family Controls framework to apply app restrictions on your device. By using the Service, you acknowledge that:

  • Coin relies on Apple's APIs, which are subject to change at Apple's discretion

  • Disruptions to Apple's Screen Time API may affect the functionality of the Service

  • Coin is not responsible for changes Apple makes to its platform that impact the Service

  • You are responsible for ensuring appropriate permissions are granted on any device where the Coin app is installed, including devices belonging to minors in your care

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

In summary: app blocking configuration is stored locally on your device and in your private iCloud container. We do not collect or store your app usage data on our servers without your explicit opt-in. We do not sell your data to third parties.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, software, hardware designs, trademarks, logos, and other intellectual property associated with the Service are owned by or licensed to Coin Technologies, Inc. These Terms do not grant you any rights to use Coin's intellectual property except as expressly permitted herein.

You may not use the Coin name, logo, or branding in any way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without our prior written consent.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COIN DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

COIN DOES NOT WARRANT THAT:

  • THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE

  • THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • ANY DEFECTS IN THE SERVICE WILL BE CORRECTED

  • THE SERVICE WILL BE EFFECTIVE IN REDUCING YOUR OR YOUR CHILD'S SCREEN TIME OR APP USAGE

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COIN SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF REVENUE, OR HARM TO DEVICES OR ACCESSORIES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO COIN IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Coin Technologies, Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 10, 11, 12, 13, and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in San Francisco, California. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction where necessary to protect intellectual property or confidential information.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the app. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
