Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Chorrie, Inc. ("Coin," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data when you use the Coin device, the Coin app, and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
Account information: If you create a Coin account, we collect your email address and password. Name is optional.
Purchase information: When you purchase a Coin device, we collect your name, shipping address, and payment information. Payment is processed by a third-party provider (Shopify Payments or Stripe); we do not store full payment card details on our servers.
Waitlist information: If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address and any optional information you provide (such as how you heard about us).
Support communications: If you contact us for support, we collect the contents of your messages and any information you choose to share.
2.2 Information collected automatically
Device information: We may collect basic information about the device running the Coin app, including iPhone model, iOS version, and app version. This is used for compatibility and debugging purposes.
Crash reports: If the app crashes, we collect anonymized crash data to help us diagnose and fix issues. This does not include personal information or your app usage data.
Analytics (opt-in only): If you opt in to analytics sharing, we collect anonymized, aggregated data about how you use the Coin app — such as time spent in default state vs. unlocked state. This data is never tied to your identity and never includes the specific apps you have blocked or unlocked.
2.3 Information we deliberately do not collect
Your blocked app list: The apps you choose to block or allow are stored locally on your device and in your private iCloud container. This information is never transmitted to Coin servers.
Your usage patterns: We do not collect data about which apps you use, when you use them, or how long you use them, unless you explicitly opt in to anonymized analytics sharing.
Your location: The Coin app does not collect or transmit your location.
The content of your communications: We do not access messages, emails, or any other content on your device.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Fulfill and ship your hardware order
Create and manage your Coin account
Provide and improve the Coin app and Service
Process Coin Pro subscription payments
Send transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping updates, account notices)
Send product updates and marketing communications (with your consent — you can opt out at any time)
Respond to support requests
Diagnose technical issues and improve app stability
Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your data to third parties — ever.
4. How We Store Your Information
4.1 Local storage
Your blocking configuration, puck registrations, and app preferences are stored locally on your iPhone and, if enabled, in your private iCloud container managed by Apple. Coin does not have access to this data.
4.2 Our servers
Account information, order data, and support communications are stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
4.3 Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (such as transaction records).
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
5.1 Service providers
We work with trusted third-party providers who help us operate the Service. These include:
Shopify — e-commerce and order fulfillment
Stripe — payment processing
Apple App Store — app distribution and subscription billing
Truemed — HSA/FSA eligibility processing (only if you choose to pay via HSA/FSA)
Email service provider — transactional and marketing emails
These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.
5.2 Legal requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Coin, our users, or the public.
5.3 Business transfers
If Coin is acquired, merges with another company, or sells substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent notice in the app before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5.4 With your consent
We may share your information in other ways if you give us explicit permission to do so.
6. Children's Privacy
Coin is designed to be used by parents on behalf of children, and by teenagers with parental permission. We take children's privacy seriously.
Users under 13. The Coin app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@chorrie.com and we will delete it promptly.
Users aged 13–17. If you are between 13 and 17, your parent or guardian must agree to these Terms and this Privacy Policy on your behalf. We encourage parents to review this policy with their children.
Parental use on a child's device. When a parent installs and configures the Coin app on a child's device, the blocking configuration is stored locally on that device. Coin does not have access to the child's app usage data or device activity.
7. Apple's Screen Time API & Family Controls
The Coin app uses Apple's Family Controls framework to apply app restrictions. Apple's handling of Screen Time and Family Controls data is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy, which we encourage you to review. Coin does not receive any data from Apple about your Screen Time usage — we only interact with the API to apply and remove restrictions as directed by you.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
8.1 Access
You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by contacting privacy@chorrie.com.
8.2 Correction
You can update your account information at any time within the Coin app or by contacting us.
8.3 Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting privacy@chorrie.com. We will process your request within 30 days.
8.4 Opt-out of marketing
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send. You will still receive transactional emails related to your account and orders.
8.5 Opt-out of analytics
You can disable anonymized analytics sharing at any time in the Coin app under Settings.
8.6 California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of your data (we do not sell data). To exercise these rights, contact privacy@chorrie.com.
8.7 EEA and UK residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have additional rights including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal basis for processing your personal data is performance of a contract (order fulfillment, account management), legitimate interests (app improvement, security), and consent (marketing communications, analytics).
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Coin account.
If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
10. Third-Party Links & Services
The Coin app or website may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a prominent notice in the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
We encourage you to review this page periodically.
